Toronto Maple Leafs

Ron Wilson's days are numbered as coach of the Leafs, according to history. History indicates when the General Manager gives his coach a "Vote of Confidence", not long after he is dismissed. However, with Burke, one can never tell! Burke is the reason for the Leafs plummet to oblivion. However, Burke is made for Toronto. His negativity is made for Toronto. This is a franchise that when nothing goes right negativity sells. Toronto fans are fickle and feed on failure. It allows them to dismiss their failures and are almost happy to see others fail. They prove this everytime they buy a ticket to watch this franchise struggle. I mean, why should they improve? They sellout all the time! It's almost sadistic to watch the Leafs play.

Whats this? Brian Burke didn't get Tavares...damn! Hows this? Leafs have a franchise record under Burke for futility....worst start in Leaf history! So this is what $18M over 6 yrs is worth! Damn I should have applied lmfao! Not to worry Burke, Toronto will still pack the house, for they know not what they support.

Brian Burke is making a sham out of the draft selection process by saying he will trade up for Tavares. This is typical Burke style of management. He likes to make out he is the only one who knows anything about the game. Well, I hope he does get Tavares. I'm not an avid Leaf fan, so getting a dud like Tavares will certainly clarify just how (out of touch) Burke is with reality. This guy will prove to be another Alexandre Daige.

The Mats Sundin saga with the Leafs is a classic example of how the class Europeans have ruined the of the game. It is proof the Europeans have always regarded the NHL as the money league. They have taken a league that had loyalty and stability and have turned it into a bidding war. Sundin is no different than the other Europeans who have crossed the pond to play in the money league. So, why harp on the fact he opted to make use of his "no trade clause" on his contract. He simply out manoeuvred Leaf management at the table. League owners are the dopes here. They hire managers that simply take their money and throw it around with reckless abandon. They do this with the assumption it will maintain their job. No other reason.
I call this the Europeon Influence", and it's spreading! You will never again see the loyalty and stability we once had in the NHL. Their is no longer a sign of ownership on a player, for he could be gone "BY HIS CHOICE" whenever the going gets tough.
Bettman and company have allowed the money league to continue and to grow larger each year. Yes, they oppose it, but are unable to keep the greedy owners at bay. So, the fans have to live with this money league and what it has to offer, or simply stop watching it. Since the NHL has a lot of influence on society, it's no wonder loyalty and stability has been on the decline in the lifestyle we are used to having. This hockey has brought down our way of life and exposed the greed within us. Too bad for all concerned!
So we will continue to listen and watch the Mats Sundin, Marion Hossa money grabbing who wants me sagas, which continues to draw "Yellow" journalism by the media. Fans today want to hear this, which really makes them "Soap Opera" fans and not true hockey fans.

Richard Peddie and the Leaf management have to give their heads a shake. The hiring of Brian Burke will be the biggest failure of all time. This guy is what's wrong with the whole system. His ego demands to be paid way more than he is worth. He is no messiah. He just a guy who has got everyone believing he is. This will set the Leafs back another ten years without a cup. During that tenure Leaf fans will continue to suffer. Leaf fans should just abandon the arena and save their money for more productive enjoyment. I could think of better ways to spend an evening and for a lot less.

With the trade deadline past...the Mats Sundin show continues....the leafs knew the trade would never happen....why should it...the interest in Mats skyrocketed, which gave the leafs more media exposure than ever....getting rid of Mats would have discontinued the show and not created half the interest the "Mats Sundin show generates, which in the long run sells.....isn't that what game is all about....the creation of controversy and not hockey teams...Mats and the leafs are both winners...Mats for a shorter season, allowing him to enjoy the millions he is getting and the leafs for getting the attention teams like Washington, Florida and St. Louis get for finding a home for superstars who are not able to bring home a winner, but to showcase their skills. It's called "Carpetbagging". Fans deserve better!!
